Data tracker

The purpose of the Data Tracker is to provide the citizen with a clear overview of the operations performed with their data. A complete overview is displayed on the state portal eesti.ee.

The Information System Authority provides the database owner with a protocol for submitting usage information, based on which the database owner must independently implement the corresponding X-Road service.

The technical solution of the Data Tracker has been completed with funding from the European Regional Development Fund.

The Data Tracker is located on the state portal eesti.ee. To see it, you need to log in to the portal.

Data Tracker on eesti.ee

Who is it for?

The Data Tracker is designed to interface with public sector information systems that store and process personal data in their databases.

In accordance with the European General Data Protection Regulation and the Estonian Personal Data Protection Act, a citizen has the right to receive an overview of operations performed with their data. The Data Tracker offers a good opportunity for both parties.

How does it work?

From the Information System Authority`s perspective, it is important that all data registers implementing the Data Tracker do so on the same basis, meaning they must apply the Data Tracker protocol when implementing their service.

The Data Tracker service must be built according to the specification provided by the Information System Authority to ensure that the Data Tracker services of different data registers can be displayed uniformly in the eesti.ee portal.

Implementation requires X-road.
