There may be problems when using the ID-card with macOS version 11 (Big Sur)

The new version 11 of the Apple operating system (macOS Big Sur), which will be released this autumn, may have problems with using the ID-card.

The Information System Authority (RIA) has tested the ID software with different beta versions of the new macOS 11 and currently, it is not possible to use the ID-card in the DigiDoc4 client in the new operating system, nor to authenticate the user and sign documents with the ID-card in web browsers. This is because of problems with the operating system when communicating with the chip card. RIA is aware of the problem and has notified representatives of Apple.

ID-card users are advised to wait with updating the macOS operating system. Users of Mobile-ID and Smart-ID are not affected by this issue.
